Arcadia Dragon Park
Arcadia Dragon Park
RubberTough were engaged by contractor UDL Group to supply and install rubber wet pour, with varying fall height requirements, bright colours and patterns as specified by the landscape architects. With the main theme of the new play space being the ‘dragon’, the rubber Softfall was installed in a fiery design to compliment the great beast. It was important that the finish of the rubber was perfect and had seamless changes between the different colours, to prevent any potential splitting or cracking and increase the longevity of the surface. When the site was ready for our wet pour rubber, it was half completed with concrete poured and set as our sub-base. Working closely with UDL Group to ensure the concrete sub-base was as perfect as possible with the varying rises and falls, to allow for our base rubber and overall level finish. Not only did we install rubber Softfall around the outside of the dragon, but we also surfaced inside the dragon head. This was quite a challenging and fiddley job. The dragon encompasses a climbing net into the mouth and a steep climb up steps and then is met with a vertical drop slide, which brings the child out the bottom of the dragon’s neck. Our crew surfaced the steps inside the dragon’s mouth and down both sides of the steep slide inside, in a tight, awkward space, our crew pulled off the near impossible. Colour Blends consisted of multiple Gezolan EPDM colours, creating custom blends to bring the fiery vision to life.
